A Colorful Future Awaits

Though it has occupied a number of buildings in its 150 years, First National 1870 has has its main branch on the Santa Fe Plaza since the bank’s founding. The current building was opened in 1954 and was designed by the famed architect John Gaw Meem. In its debut, writers commented on the use of aluminum in its interior spaces.

The First National 1870 main branch is a community gathering place during the holiday season as residents and visitors alike come to see the model railroad display that has become a tradition in Santa Fe.
